MEVLANA MUSEUM AND TOMB
The site was a nose garden and it
was given to the titter of Mevlana
by the Seljuk Sultan Aleaddin
Keykubat. Mevlana Museum which is

and a philosopher, Mevlana
Celaleddin Rumi, who founded the
Mevlevi sect, lived between 1207-
1273 in Konya. His philosophy calls
all people to love, peace and
tolerence. His book ''Mesnevi'' was
translated into many languages and
atracted attention.
TURBE (TOMB) OF MEVLANA AND
NEVLANA MUSEUM
After Mevlana died, a tomb was built
here The Trunk of the tomb is
covered by green tiles. Under the
dome which is called ''green dome''
there are sarcophagi of Mevlana and
his son.
MEVLEVI'S
Mevlana, founder of Mevlana sect
made very strict rules for ones eho
wants to join this religious order
principles of the order was based on
the education of body and saul. If
the conddate was lonest, healty and
coming from a good family, hes
toiled in very hand jobs for 1001
days and he was observed constantly.
They danced in a special way called
''Semah'' accompaniment of reed
slute and they were turning around
themselves. In the 2. week of every
December, commemorative ceremonies
are organized for Mevlana in Konya.
These celebretions attraction great
interest and they last 10 days.
NASREDDIN HODJA
Nasreddin Hodja is a famous
humourist and wise person whose
jokes and life style is told by
thousand of people. The jokes of
Nasreddin Hodja encourages are to
think while launghing and laug while
thinking. Once upon a time Nasreddin
Hodja rides his donkey backwards
people asks; ''Why did you ride on
your donkey backwards?'' He answers:
''I don't want to see that I'm on
the some way and direction as it''.

Geographical Position
The surface area of Turkey is divided by the Dardanelles, the sea of Marmara and the Bosphorus. In the west, Turkey has boundaries with Greece (212km) and Bulgaria (269km). In the east and south east, Turkey has boundaries with four countries: The Soviet Union (610km) , Iran (454km), Iraq (331km), and Syria (870km). Geographically, Turkey is a land-bridge between Europe and Asia.
The european section of Turkey is a fertile hilly land. The Asian part of Turkey consist of an inner high plateau (1000m) with mountain ranges along the north and south coasts. The plaeau extends from the west to the Aegean coast, with many river valleys.
The western part is the most fertile section of the country. In eastern Turkey, the northern Pontus Mountains meet with the southern Taurus Mountains and from here the 1800m high Anatolian plateau. From this plateau rise the particularly high Vulkan Mountains over 3000m, while further south is the 5165m high Mount Ararat, the highest mountain in the country.
