It is located on the highway of
Eskisehir and Afyon. It is
history goes back to 3000 BC
(Katiaeion) Tile making started
here from the period of the
Seljuks and is still going on.
Famous tiles produced here can
be seen in the museums around
the world. Kutahya is also the
birth place of Evliya Celebi (a
famous muslim who travelled
around the world). His
grandfather Ahmet Bey's tomb is
here. Aslan Bey is an important
mosque (On of the two niches of
the mosque indicating the
direction of Mecca is original).
Demirtas Pasha Mosque, Hisarbey
Mosque, Imaret Mosque, Ishak
Fakih Mosque, Karagoz Mosque,
Ulu Mosque, Yesil Mosque and
Kutahya castle are among the
very special historical works of
art. Besides the beauty of the
monuments there are very old
typical Kutahya tiles which have
world fame. Some very important
hot springs and baths are Gobel,
Kaynarca Samrik, Yenicekoy,
Yukarı Yonca Agac. Not far from
the city are Angir Antique City
and the Castle which were made
by the Phrygians and Simas
castle built by the byzantines.
