DATCA - KNIDOS

Knidos is stiuated 28 km of the west of Datca and it is very famous with it is seamen. The suburbon city of Knidos is composed of a peninsula and a continental part which are interconnected with roads. Knidos had become the focus of interset with it is statue of goddes Aphrodite in Antique age. The people living in the Mediterrenian countries used to come to see the first nude statue of goddess Aphrodite in the world. Unfortunately this statue did not survive until the present time.
 
BOZOLUK (LETOON)

It is ancient and sacred city from the Lydian period. It is 4 km. from Xanthos. In addition te temples and Roman theatre, parts of founteins and temples and stelves are exhibited in the museum.
 
GOKOVA

While going to Marmaris-Mugla among the magnificent colored pine trees ypu turn to Karacasogut after 11 kilometers. This place is Gokova with it is unsurpassable beauty. It has two important harbors called Karaca and Sogut. Sailing and Yachting are among the most important sports here. In this wonderful gulf, building a thermic plant still remains a problem. Karaca Sogut Bay, Okluk Bay, English Harbour, Longoz Harbour, 7 Island Harbour, Falls and the Karain Cave which is 30 km long are all in this area. It is also possible to travel with small boats around in Karain Cave Gokova is a splendid place with it is motels and villas.
 
KINIK (XANTHOS)

The city, famous for tombs, look it is name from the river Xanthos (today this river is called Esen). Xanthos is one of the oldest cities of Lycia. The city was independent for many years until it was captured by Persians. people old the city resisted the Persian commander Herpagos travelly man at the city left their wivws children, slaves and all their belonging in the Acropolisand burned the Acropolis and they went for a last attact on the Persians and lost their lives Remains of this city beought to light by the foreign archeologist in the excavations are exhibited in museums of in Turkey and abroad.

Geographical Position

The surface area of Turkey is divided by the Dardanelles, the sea of Marmara and the Bosphorus. In the west, Turkey has boundaries with Greece (212km) and Bulgaria (269km). In the east and south east, Turkey has boundaries with four countries: The Soviet Union (610km) , Iran (454km), Iraq (331km), and Syria (870km). Geographically, Turkey is a land-bridge between Europe and Asia.

The european section of Turkey is a fertile hilly land. The Asian part of Turkey consist of an inner high plateau (1000m) with mountain ranges along the north and south coasts. The plaeau extends from the west to the Aegean coast, with many river valleys.

The western part is the most fertile section of the country. In eastern Turkey, the northern Pontus Mountains meet with the southern Taurus Mountains and from here the 1800m high Anatolian plateau. From this plateau rise the particularly high Vulkan Mountains over 3000m, while further south is the 5165m high Mount Ararat, the highest mountain in the country.
